The Ritz Carlton was designed and constructed in two phases, the first consisting of 250 key resort hotel and the second phase adding a further 150 keys and a conference center.
The design brief given to Graham Applin was to follow the design principles of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain. The proportion and detailing were closely studied and gave rise to this Moorish styled hotel.
The Ritz Carlton won many design awards and went on to set a precedent for the architecture of large resort hotels worldwide.
